The Best Value American Express Cards Available Right Now

American Express has always offered great value on their credit cards. But there are some cards that are just too good to pass up.
The Best Value American Express Cards Available Right Now

If you know me, you know that I am an avid user of credit cards, responsibly. That is because credit cards offer us a lot of perks, so why not take advantage of them?

American Express has to be my favorite credit card company for two reasons: high sign-up bonuses and spectacular customer service.

This is why today I will share with you the best credit cards that you can get from American Express in my opinion.

Blue Cash Everyday Card

This was probably one of the first cards I got. But the card just got revamped by American Express and it is looking real good right now.

The current sign-up bonus is $200 after spending $2,000 in the first 6 months. Note that this card earns cash back and not membership reward points.

The earnings here are really good for a no annual fee card. You earn 3% back on groceries and supermarkets, gas, and online shopping ($6,000 limit on each category per year). Everything else outside these categories earns 1%.

Now, the nice thing is that even though this is a $0 annual fee card, you still get some outstanding benefits. $7 credit for Disney's Bundle monthly and a $15/month credit for Home Chef. These are nice perks to have if you use these services, especially since there is no annual fee.

Amazon Business Prime Card

I know what you are thinking: this is a business card and I do not have a business. Well, you do not really need to have a business to get access to business cards. Meaning, you do not need an LLC or corporation. You can always apply as a sole proprietorship. That's what I did.

Anyway, the sign-up bonus for this card is a $125 Amazon gift card. Essentially, you can offset your Amazon Prime membership, which is $139, with this bonus and effectively only pay $14 for prime membership.

The earnings are great too. You will earn 5% cash back for any purchases made with Amazon.com, Whole Foods, or Amazon AWS. In addition, there is a 2% cash back offer for restaurants, gas, and wireless phone services. Everything else is just 1%.

This is the only card on the list that I do not have yet. I plan to get this card before the end of the year and utilize it to finally splurge on a prime membership instead of using my friend’s account.

American Express Business Plus

Another business card! This is another great no annual fee card to add to your list. The sign up bonus is 15K points after spending $3,000 in 3 months.

The earning is very simple: you get 2X points for every dollar, regardless of the category. It's very simple and straight to the point. You should always aim to earn more than 1% on any purchase. This card accomplishes just that.

Nicely enough, this card is pretty easy to get approved for as your first business card.

American Express Gold Card

This is by far my favorite card on this list and of all time. I love this card and I use it every day.

The gold card does not earn cash back; it earns membership reward points instead. The sign up bonus ranges from 60K-90K points after spending $4,000 in the first 6 months. Sometimes you have to wait for American Express to target you with a high sign-up bonus, or you can search for a higher bonus on resy.

The earnings are why I love this card so much. It will earn 4X points for every dollar spent at restaurants or at supermarkets or groceries. Additionally, it will earn 3X points on flights booked directly with airlines or through the American Express travel portal. Everything else earns just 1 point per dollar.

The annual fee is a whopping $250. However, that fee can be offset by the benefits that come with owning this card. There is a $120 Uber/Uber eats credit ($10/month) and a $120 dining credit ($10/month) that can be used at specific food services.

If you use this card effectively and maximize the credits, you can potentially own this card for just $10 a year. Paying only $10 for a card that earns this many points is a no-brainer. I personally use my Uber credit every month and my dining credit. I either use Grubhub or Shake Shack to take advantage of the dining benefits.

Additionally, the card offers return and purchase protection. Those can come in handy when you need to return an item that the store will not take back.
